I was listening to Romans chapter one and had to ask, ‘How long ago was this written?’ Nearly 2,000 years ago. And we’re still dealing with these same things today. Think about that.
We have all this information and all these tools, but the heart problem hasn’t changed.
Paul talks about people trading God’s truth for a lie. That hit me. When we want something bad enough, we can justify anything and even find people who’ll co-sign it. But people agreeing with you doesn’t make it right.
And this isn’t about pointing at one sin category while ignoring our own stuff. Gossip, pride, greed, how we treat people, that’s in the chapter too. Then Romans two addresses the person judging somebody else. By Romans three, it’s clear. All of us have sinned. All of us need grace.
So for me, it comes back to application. The word you apply is the word that will transform you.
Read Romans one through three. Ask, “Lord, what do I need to apply?” Then do that.
